Do you desire to transform the connection with your horse?

Elevate your horsemanship skills under Susan’s guidance

Take your riding to the next level with Susan

When you come for your first coaching session (online or in person) we will work together to see where you are at and what gaps in your knowledge you want/need to fill up in order to move forward in your horsemanship skills.

I often ask lots of questions to help you develop a curiosity mindset so you can process what you already know, what challenges you are facing and what you need in order to overcome these challenges.

The goal is always for you to be able to replicate the things you learn in your lessons when you are on your own.

The coaching process is always fully adapted to you and your horse’s ability, and emotional and mental capacity on the day. We truly work together as a team, which means you always have the opportunity to direct the direction you would like to take.

My coaching sessions are fully adaptable to any level and style of riding.

With a background in horse psychology and with an empathetic approach, I love adapting my coaching sessions to suit you and your horse’s wants and needs, so that you can thrive.

During our sessions together you will learn all about

  • how horses learn

  • how their brain processes information

  • how to apply kind training methods

  • how your seat impacts your horse’s way of going and how to improve this

  • how to obtain this “illusive” feel

  • how to get a horse to use it’s body correctly

At times, we may observe that your current skill level may not be fully equipped to meet the training needs of your horse. Should this situation arise, it may be prudent to explore the possibility of me assuming responsibility for aspects of your horse's training that require additional expertise. This scenario can occur when initiating the training of a young horse, working on advanced dressage movements, or due to time constraints on your part.
I kindly urge you not to schedule a lesson if your horse is displaying any problematic behaviors that require a behavior consultation. For more details regarding a horse behavior consult, please refer to the relevant section on our website. If you are uncertain about the best course of action, please feel free to contact me so we can engage in a comprehensive discussion to determine the most suitable option for your specific circumstances.

> Success story

My daughter and I have been having riding lessons with Susan for the last 8 years.

She has a very flexible approach and tailors each lesson to the individual needs. She immediately notices if you are tired or stressed and adapts the lesson. She has a great sense of humour and will always find the positive even if you fall off! I really love Susan’s flexibility, we’ve done vaulting, games, jumping, poles, dressage to music…… she will also plan in advance and give you a jump or pole course to set up.

Susan has a huge amount of knowledge and loves reading and listening to pod casts, she will often tell you about an interesting study she has read and keeps herself up to date on the latest research in the equine world. So as well as learning to ride you also learn about horse behaviour and gain a much better understanding of your horse.

Susan runs a very popular holiday program at our pony club. She asks the kids what they want to do and plans a fun program for them. She always has new ideas so it’s never same-same or boring.

Susan provided huge support when we bought our first pony, the ground work lessons and clicker training were invaluable for building a trusting relationship with our horse and a solid foundation for riding.

When I had a nasty fall Susan helped me regain my confidence, she was very mindful of my comfort levels and gradually rebuilt my confidence using techniques she has learnt in her mental coaching.

Susan goes the extra mile for her clients. She has come with me to look at a potential new horse, accompanied me on treks, helped with floating and much much more, if she can help then she will.
